The Master in Business and Management (MBM), delivered in partnership with the European Fragrance and Cosmetics Master (EFCM), started in 2002 through an agreement between:

  • Department of Economics and Management, UniPD;
  • Department of Pharmaceutical and Pharmacological Sciences, UniPD;
  • ISIPCA (Institut Supérieur International du Parfum e de la Cosmétique Aromatique Alimentaire);
  • Universitè de Versailles Saint-Quentin-En-Yvelines.

Our specific objectives are:

  • Providing a good and solid base in business, management and marketing;
  • Preparing students for a career in the modern business world;
  • Getting students in touch with the reality of the Cosmetics industry, by combining theory and practice;
  • Offering an international learning environment to our students.

Dual-mode teaching will take place from September to the end of February, followed by a period of compulsory internship lasting at least 4 months, either in Italy or abroad. Classes will be held from Monday to Friday. The MBM program, entirely focused on the “Fragrance and Cosmetics” sector and held in English, is structured in seven main units and three industry-specific courses. Courses are taught by both Italian and international teaching staff, and also by professionals from leading national and international industries.

The Master is based on a rich mix of training methodologies and technologies: lectures, seminars, case discussions, business games, company visits, interviews, group assignments, report writing and discussion, etc.

The course will end with the development and discussion of a Final Project Work.

At the end of the MBM program, students will acquire an in-depth knowledge of management and business applied to the perfume and cosmetics field, integrated within a broader framework of knowledge and understanding of the industrial world.

MBM is a one-year professional and short specialization program designed for students without an economics and/or business background. Therefore, it is ideal for students with a scientific degree.

The Master’s degree trains professionals who integrate a technical-scientific cultural base with management concepts, contents, languages and methods. It provides both a solid knowledge in different fields of management – accounting, finance, organization, marketing, production, strategy, international management, business planning, intercultural HR in multinationals, CSR – and industry-specific expertise.

Current career opportunities in the Fragrance and Cosmetics sector include: product safety, project management, product development, creative fragrance evaluation and management, science marketing, marketing management, sales management, technical management, junior entrepreneur, communications, etc.

From the experience of the past editions emerges a significant enhancement of the participants’ learning capabilities, largely supported by a rapid job placement.

FAQ

MBM is a course designed for students who do not have a previous background in business and economics. Therefore, it is mainly for students with a science degree (at least a Bachelor’s degree), which is the main requirement. Other degree courses may also be taken into consideration, so do get in touch with us if you hold a degree in any area outside the business field.
No, unfortunately no scholarship is offered.

For the academic year 2023-2024, classes will be held in a dual mode, which means that the Courses will be offered simultaneously online (Zoom) and in-person. However, you are allowed to attend online classes only for 30% of the entire teaching period (September-February).

Classes are held from Monday to Friday for at least 3/4 hours a day. Attending the Master can hardly be reconcilable with a full-time job, mainly because the required percentage of mandatory attendance is 90%.

Yes, the second part of the MBM program, from March to September will be dedicated to the internship and drawing up/developing a final report called Final Project Work. The internship needs to be at least 4 months long for which, in addition to searching for opportunities by yourself, you will be constantly supported and assisted by the Master office staff in terms of CV optimization, job interview simulations and company contacts.

The call for application will be published around mid-June: you must follow all the instructions and submit the application by the specified deadline, in August.  As the MBM program is considered the second year of the European Fragrance and Cosmetics Master (EFCM), there are limited spots available for students who wish to enroll only in the Master in Business and Management, without attending the first year of the EFCM program.
