The Second-level Short Specialisation Degree in Osseointegrated Implantology prepares field professionals in the knowledge of cutting-edge surgical and prosthetic implantology techniques, and on the related literature, protocols and complications.

In this way, the ability to carry out the correct diagnosis is developed, which is the basis for therapeutic success, both through simple and complex cases.

The Second-level Short Specialisation Degree in Osseointegrated Implantology offers the most advance skills to treat the patients of the Dental Clinic of the University of Padua surgically and prosthetically, also through the support of specialized tutors.

Through their supervision, professionals complete the theoretical preparation with hands-on applications. They gather the patient’s diagnostic information, draft a care plan, and carry out interventions and prosthetic finalization. Surgical procedures are always supported by anaesthesiology assistance, and surgeries are always carried out with conscious sedation. This helps participants acquire practical skills directly during the clinical activity.

The SSecond-level Short Specialisation Degree in Osseointegrated Implantology is addressed to dentists and surgeons specialized in odontostomatology. 

Through front lessons and hands-on care practice, Master attendees will have the chance to successfully enter the implantology market.

The Second-level Short Specialisation Degree in Osseointegrated Implantology provides in-depth training on the following modules:

  • Dissection class on an anatomical preparation
  • Orthopantomography and CT scan in implantology: ability to read and understand X-ray exams , volumetric cone beams, new implantology frontiers, advantages and disadvantages 
  • Peri-plant soft tissue: peri-plant soft tissue treatment in aesthetic areas, periodontal patient treatment in implantology 
  • The importance of hygiene in the implantology field: professional hygiene techniques 
  • Basic scientific research principles, bibliographic research 
  • Basic Life Support and Defibrillation with IRC and ERC theoretical and hands-on training criteria 
  • Osseointegration, implant surgery principles, main surgical techniques in basic and advanced implantology
  • Anaesthesia techniques in oral surgery, conscious sedation, dental emergencies 
  • Orthodontic treatment in dental agenesia: orthodontics to prepare the implant site 
  • Use of short implants: follow up and inclusion criteria 
  • The role of implant surfaces in osseointegration and peri-implantitis 
  • Fixed implant prosthetics in single, partial and total edentulia, advantages and disadvantages 
  • Surgical and prosthetic protocols in implant treatment and implant-supported prosthesis

The Second-level Short Specialisation Degree in Osseointegrated Implantology includes a two-year course with in-person lessons, by leading professors in the implantology field, on Thursday or Friday afternoon, and clinical-care activities every Friday, between 8 am and 2 pm.

In addition, it offers the chance to participate in national and international events and congresses.

Periodical assessments of the cases treated will be held, as exam session, and a hands-on and oral exam at the end of the first and the second year.

The general ranking of merit for the academic year 2023/24 will be published on the Italian page of this Master according to the timing provided in the Call.

FAQ

Attendance at the Dental Clinic unit of the University of Padua is once a week, and it will allow attendees to follow the patient’s entire diagnostic-treatment process. A 75% attendance is mandatory.
