The Course in Paediatric Psychology (0-6) is aimed at providing theoretical and practical knowledge on typical and atypical development, to promote the well-being of children of preschool age. Prevention, assessment and early intervention in early ages, starting from pregnancy to the 0-6 age interval, are primary healthcare objectives, therefore it is increasingly necessary to train figures experts on these topics, in an integrated multidisciplinary view.
The Course wants to provide, based on the related background, the right competencies in using methods and instruments to assess the different developmental aspects (neurocognitive, motorial, emotional, relational), with the aim of being capable of planning and implementing specific interventions with children between 0 and 6 years of age and their families, by integrating different professional competencies (psychology, gynaecology, paediatrics, child neuropsychiatry).
The course units of the Course in Paediatric Psychology (0-6) provide specific training on:
- Obstetrics and gynaecology;
- Paediatrics and child neuropsychiatry;
- Cognitive development;
- Language development;
- Emotional-relational development
The Course in Paediatric Psychology (0-6) is addressed to psychologists, doctors and professional figures who wish to deepen their knowledge and acquire competencies in the paediatric psychology field.
Attendees will acquire multidisciplinary competencies to work as interlocutors and/or consultants, in public and private facilities (services for children and adolescents, NPI, paediatric units, gynaecology units), educational organizations (kindergartens, nurseries) and private social organizations (associations, cooperatives), through the acquisition of practical and theoretical competencies on the main topics covered by the Course.
Moreover, given the multidisciplinary prospective of the Course’s approach and competencies provided (and required in this field), attendees will gain a profile with skills that can be used on specific methods and instruments to assess child development, and any atypical and/or psychopathological characteristics, with the purpose of planning and implementing targeted interventions, to support the development and/or any areas of struggle.
