The Master in Hospital-Territory Clinical-Therapeutic Pharmacy (FACTO) develops in-hospital and territorial clinical pharmacists through:
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of the clinical/therapeutic management of acute and chronic diseases;
- Drug usage optimization skills;
- Expertise and knowledge on how to inform and communicate with different clinical-medical professionals to ensure a proper drug use;
- Skills in the critical assessment of scientific literature on clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacotherapy;
- Expertise in drafting medical reviews and medication reconciliations;
- Knowledge and competence on TDM in patients with organ failures;
- Non-clinical knowledge to support broadest advanced and research practices.
The Master in Hospital-Territory Clinical-Therapeutic Pharmacy provides professionals with the right skills to communicate in an appropriate manner, both orally and in writing, and to support simulated debates with clinical specialists, healthcare professionals, patients, caregivers and other pharmacists.
At the end of the course, attendees will be able to present, analyse and discuss a clinical case, in an effective manner, with an appropriate technical language and the competence expected from a ward pharmacist. Furthermore, they will be involved in the reporting and disclosure of results of interventional drug-based institutional teams and experimental trials or in observational teams in institutions and at scientific events.
The Master is provided in blended mode: 40% remotely on Zoom and 60% in person.
It includes lectures, practice sessions, seminars, testimonials, remote learning sessions, individual study, and internship. Practice sessions will mainly be carried out at the University and in partner hospital facilities.
The Master in Hospital-Territory Clinical-Therapeutic Pharmacy is addressed to LM13 graduates, and it deepens the expertise of those who have completed or are completing a Post-Graduate Diploma in Hospital Pharmacy or similar specialization.
It provides a unique and invaluable curriculum to all Pharmacists wishing to delve into the clinical-treatment aspects of their profession, to transfer them in their work fields, and consolidate the identity of role of a Clinical and/or Ward Pharmacist, whose profile and competences have already been outlined by the main International Scientific Societies.
Career opportunities include inside hospitals, IRCCS, private hospitals and nursing homes, care homes and regions. A hospital pharmacist expert in Clinical-Treatment Pharmacy can work in corporate and regional teams in the “disease area”; in Corporate Treatment Committees; in Corporate Medical Departments; in Clinical Ward Teams; in Interdisciplinary Care Groups; in TOC and in hospital-territory continuity contexts for pharmacological treatment; in remote pharmacy activities with residential patients; in clinical trials and research to evaluate the effectiveness, safety and appropriateness of pharmacological treatments.
