The rapid development of preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) in the field of advanced genetic testing for early prenatal diagnosis represents a challenge for all professionals working in this distinct field that involves Genetics, Embryology, and Reproductive Medicine.

Our high Specialization Course in “Preimplantation Genetic Testing: Role of the Paramedical Staff – paraPGT” aims at training professionals with the transversal skills necessary to work in a Medically Assisted Procreation Center implementing preimplantation genetic testing. The course will provide students with specific knowledge related to genetics, embryology, and reproductive medicine, focusing on genetic and psychological counseling, bioethics, and legislative issues.

Our high Specialization Course in “Preimplantation Genetic Testing: Role of the Paramedical Staff – paraPGT offers one day of online lessons a month (six hours a day) for eight months.

The members of our faculty, all experienced professionals in the fields of MAP and PGT, will conduct their lessons online and dedicate plenty of time to the discussion and the analysis of clinical cases.

Some lessons will be dedicated to defining the role of psychologists, paramedical staff, and other specialists involved in a MAP-PGT process.

Finally, lessons will also cover the legal and ethical aspects related to PGT.

The final exam will consist of the evaluation of an essay focused on a specific topic.

Our high Specialization Course in “Preimplantation Genetic Testing: Role of the Paramedical Staff – paraPGT allows attendees to work independently in a MAP center implementing preimplantation genetic testing, which will give them the chance to acquire effective communication skills useful when dealing with a couple approaching and undertaking this journey.

More specifically, the course will allow students to:

  • Effectively and professionally cooperate with the medical staff when dealing with a couple approaching MAP to perform PGT
  • Fully understand MAP procedures and the main techniques used in a clinical embryology lab and in molecular biology labs

Therefore, our course aims at training professionals with transversal skills appliable to gynecology, embryology, and genetics, so that they can work in a MAP center with an in-house PGT lab.

The course is supported by the main three Italian scientific societies who deal with MAP and PGT:

  • SIERR (Società Italiana di Embriologia, Riproduzione e Ricerca)
  • SIFES (Società Italiana di Fertilità e Sterilità)

Our students will have the chance to take part in the annual National Congress on Preimplantation Diagnosis, which takes place in Padua over the summer.

The Congress will be an opportunity to get to know the latest scientific updates in the field of MAP and PGT.

The attendees will also have the chance to take part in four different webinars organized within the MSc in Preimplantation Genetic Diagosis.
